Our Story

Welcome to High Plains Knot Work! We opened in November 2013. James had been working with paracord and rope for a few months…he started making bracelets, zipper pulls, key chains and other things for family and friends…and he made several decorative rope knots for me…we never really thought about making it a business until a friend saw those knots and encouraged us to open a shop. So here we are and enjoying every minute of it! We carry a variety of nautical home décor and paracord gift items. However, our specialty is a unique collection of decorative rope knots that you won’t find anywhere else! We are always looking for creative ways to add a unique touch to our products! What started out as a hobby has turned into our passion!

HPKW is run out of our home located in (you guessed it!) the high plains of Montana. James is, who I like to call, the “knot worker”. I create the signs you see, stencil and paint the knots and handle the business end of things…together we make quite a team!

You can find us on a variety of social media sites to include Instagram and Pinterest. However, Facebook is currently our site of choice and we enjoy the interaction we have there with our followers and fellow crafters.

We strive to create the best quality products for you and your home… All of our items are hand made and as a result may have slight imperfections. However, we will not send anything out the door that we would not be proud to carry or display in our own home. Our customers and fan base are very important to us and we thank each one of you for your support!

You can read our shop policies here.

James and I have lived in north central Montana since March of 2004 and, although we love it here, our home is middle Tennessee. We have 2 grown children and became grandparents in late 2013. I am blessed to be a stay at home wife and crafter! James works his full time job (for now) and then comes home to tie knots…Our goal is for this business to become a full time job for both of us!
